"Behind the Beard: The Unsung Aspirations of a Grandfather"

Hey there, beautiful souls! Today's blog is going to be a bit emotional, as I share a heartwarming story about my dear dad, who happens to be the cutest grandpa in the world.

You see, my parents are thousands of miles away from me, and our only connection is through the magic of free WhatsApp video calls.

Being thousands of miles apart from my parents has never been easy. Thank goodness for WhatsApp, right? It's like a magic portal that connects us despite the distance.

My parents had embarked on a journey to spend some quality time with my brother and his family. Of course, I was happy for them, but part of me wished they were with me and my daughter.

But distance can never dampen the love and the bond we share, right?

So, grab a cup of coffee, and let's dive into this emotional rollercoaster!

In one of our casual video calls, I noticed something different about my dad - he was sporting a beard! Now, you must understand that my dad is one of those evergreen souls who never seem to age. He's usually clean-shaven and looks pretty young for his age, and that's the way we've always known him.

When the day for the casual video call finally arrived, I couldn't wait to see their faces. And there they were, my mom and dad, smiling from the screen.

But wait, something was different! My dad had a beard! It's not something he typically sports, and I couldn't help but notice he looked a bit pale and worn out. My heart sank a little, seeing him like that.

Now, this may not sound like a big deal, but you have to understand that my father never really had a beard before. He always looked young and vibrant for his age, and honestly, I can't recall a time when he had facial hair.

Naturally, I shared a few pictures with my friends, showing them my dad's new bearded look.

Their response was unanimous – he looked much older with the beard. And I couldn't help but agree. I guess it's because we are so accustomed to seeing him a certain way that any change feels startling.

It was during one of these video calls that my daughter, who is as candid as they come, voiced her opinion.

She looked at her grandpa with concern and told me, "Please inform grandpa to shave his beard and look the way he normally does because he is the cutest grandpa in the world!"

It was adorable to see her care and love for her grandpa, and she had a valid point. Grandpa always had a youthful charm without the beard.

When my daughter expressed her thoughts, my father smiled and said he was doing fine, but he grew the beard because my brother and the other granddaughter liked the new look. It made him feel closer to them.

Now, as much as I appreciate my brother's family's love and admiration for my father's bearded look, I couldn't help but wonder if anyone had asked him about his preference because, here I was asking him to shave his beard when he gets back here to meet us...He gently nodded saying Yes, Sure.

Hearing this, my heart melted into a puddle of love and admiration for my dad. Here he was, selflessly embracing a new appearance to bring joy to his grandchildren.

It got me thinking - why did nobody bother to ask him what he wanted? Why do we expect him to look a certain way just because we're used to it?

Being a father means making countless sacrifices for your children, and I couldn't be more grateful for everything my dad has done for us.

But it also made me wonder if we sometimes forget that he has his own desires, aspirations, and preferences. Shouldn't he have the freedom to live life on his terms, even in the little things like his appearance?

It's not just about the beard; it's about the deeper meaning behind it.

Is the word "father" merely a title, or do we truly understand the person behind it?

Do we only focus on fulfilling our kids' needs, or do we acknowledge and support their aspirations too?

Do we tend to overlook our parents' wishes and aspirations as they try to please us and their grandchildren?

It's like they're conditioned to put our needs before their own. But shouldn't they have the freedom to express themselves the way they want to?

Shouldn't they have the liberty to make their choices without feeling compelled to meet everyone's expectations?

We rarely stop to think about these unnoticeable, overlooked aspects of someone's life. In this digital age, we're so used to instant connections and constant visual appearances that we forget the person beneath it all.

So, in the end, I realized that my dad's beard was a symbol of his love for my brother and granddaughter. It was a gesture of care and affection. And while my daughter's words were adorable, it was essential to respect my dad's autonomy and let him decide what he felt most comfortable with.

As my parents continue to create memories with my brother's family, I will cherish our video calls and the love we share. But I'll also remind myself to ask, to listen, and to understand their perspectives.

After all, love is about accepting each other wholly and being there through thick and thin, beard or no beard.

As I pondered over this, I realized that it's essential to have open conversations with our parents, to let them know that their happiness matters as much as ours.

We should encourage them to follow their passions, embrace their individuality, and never feel obligated to conform to the expectations set by society or their own family.

So, to my father, I want to say this: "Dad, you are the cutest grandpa in the world, with or without the beard. We love you for who you are, and your happiness means everything to us. You have the freedom to live your life your way, and we will always support you, no matter what."

Let's remember that age doesn't define a person; it's their spirit, their zest for life, and the love they share that truly matters.

So, let's celebrate our parents and grant them the freedom to be themselves – the individuals we admire and cherish.

What do you think about this situation? Have you ever had a similar experience with your parents or grandparents?

Share your thoughts in the comments below. Until next time, keep spreading love and happiness, and remember to let your loved ones shine in their unique way! 🌟

Dear readers, let's learn from this experience.

Next time you see a loved one trying something new, whether it's a beard, a hairstyle, or anything else, don't hesitate to ask them how they feel about it.

Show them that you care about their preferences and aspirations, just as they care for yours.

As parents and children, let's learn to see the person behind the roles we play in each other's lives. Let's cherish the love, sacrifices, and aspirations of those we hold dear and respect their individuality.

Remember, my lovelies, love knows no boundaries, and it's the little things that make the biggest impact. Let's be kind, understanding, and supportive of each other, just like my dad and his beard journey.

Until next time, spread love and be true to yourself. Take care, and I'll catch you all in the next blog. Stay tuned, and keep smiling! ❤️

Signing off,

A Thousand Miles Away, Yet Connected.

The Sun's Quiet Sacrifice

The sun loves the moon so deeply he dies every night, not in rage or fury, but in quiet surrender, letting her breathe as the stars hold their breath. He slips away, a burning heart fading into the horizon, just to give her space— to let her glow, soft and silent, untouched by his fiery embrace. She rises, drenched in his fading warmth, her light more tender for the absence of his heat. And so, they dance— his sacrifice, her freedom, woven in the rhythm of day and night. The sun loves the moon so much he dies each time, only to rise again, for love is the fire that keeps them both alive. HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

A Love Rewritten - Short Story

Part 1: The Introverted Boy Adam had always been a quiet soul. Growing up in a small town with his family, he never had the desire to be surrounded by a crowd. His life revolved around the familiar comfort of his close-knit family and his best friend, Lucas, who had been by his side since they were kids. Adam was smart, intelligent, and had a good heart, but he always felt safer inside his own head. Relationships, especially with girls, were an alien concept to him. His interactions were mostly restricted to a small circle, and that’s exactly how he liked it. But everything changed the day he met Maya. Maya was everything Adam was not—extroverted, energetic, and with a wide network of friends, many of whom were boys. She was the life of every party, and she had ambition oozing from her every pore. Maya’s world was a whirlwind of activity, a world that Adam had never ventured into and often didn’t quite understand. To him, the idea of constant socializing, endless plans, and ca...

"Obitouri: Embracing Life's Impermanence – Can the Japanese Philosophy Transform Your Perspective?"

Hey there, friends! Today, let's dive into the intriguing realm of Obitouri , a Japanese philosophy that gracefully navigates the delicate balance between life's impermanence and the profound beauty it holds. As we explore this philosophy with a philosophical angle, we'll ponder the question: Can Obitouri truly transform your perspective on life? Understanding Obitouri Obitouri, derived from the Japanese words "Obi" (to become) and "Touri" (a bird), encapsulates the idea of life's transient nature – a fleeting journey much like a bird's flight through the sky. At its core, Obitouri encourages us to embrace impermanence, acknowledging that everything in life is in a constant state of change. Philosophical Angle In a world often dominated by the pursuit of stability and permanence, Obitouri invites us to dance with the rhythm of change. Drawing parallels with existentialist philosophy, Obitouri challenges us to find meaning and purpose within th...
